On Thursday December 15, the POWER coalition along with several partners from law enforcement, schools, and other agencies hosted the first Youth and Alcohol Forum in Oklahoma County. The focus was to educate community members both Adult and youth on the real cost of underage drinking. Key speakers were Gina Pratt from ABLE commission, Lt. Doug Kimberlin with OKCPD, Kirk Morrison with Parents Helping Parents, and Tyler Ross with OCARTA. Deputy Jim Abernathy and Trooper Mackey from OHSO brought the ENDUI van for youth to walk through. Youth and adults all stated that more of these events need to take place and more people made aware of the real costs.
Inclement weather was a factor in attendance, but still over 30 community members participated in the event.
POWER coalition would like to thank OSU-OKC for allowing us to utilize their conference rooms for the event.
